Amsterdam Schiphol airport will have air traffic capacity constraints in the coming winter. Rogier Spoel, Air Transport Policy Manager at ESC spoke to the Lloyd’s Loading List. According to him and to the other air cargo and shipper representatives, given a strong growth in cargo at Schiphol so far in 2017, this can have a significant impact on full-freighter operations at the airport. Rogier Spoel also said that it might create an increase in air cargo rates and hurt the attractiveness of international companies’ distribution centres. As for the Schiphol Group, they expect that the number of full freighter slots will remain relatively stable, however, the full freighter operators who do not have historical slots, risk to have capacity constraints.
