Green Deal: key to a climate-neutral and sustainable EU: The European Parliament has updated their 'Green Deal' priority website. Background is that in November 2019, the Parliament declared a climate emergency asking the European Commission to adapt all its proposals in line with a 1.5 °C target for limiting global warming and ensure that greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced. In response, the Commission unveiled the European Green Deal, a roadmap for Europe becoming a climate-neutral continent by 2050.

33% of shipping industry stagnant on green fuel transition: The Sustainability Magazine has published an article summarising a new report by the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation, the Global Maritime Forum, and the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, with analysis by McKinsey. According to the article, the report reveals that regarding the shipping industry's transition to lower-carbon fuels one-third of participants are uncertain about the type of fuel that their ships will utilise in the coming decades.

European Parliament response on French investment plan not matching the TEN-T core network priorities: The European Parliament (response given by Ms Vălean) has provided a response to a question by the Spanish authorities regarding the impacts of delaying any investments by the French government for the construction of a section of the Atlantic corridor forming part of the TEN-T core network, connecting the Iberian Peninsula with the rest of the continent via Biriatou. Meeting of EU Working Party on Transport - Intermodal Questions and Networks: another meeting of the WP (see newsletter no. 27) has been announced for 8 May 2023 to further discuss the European Court of Auditors special report n° 08/2023 "Intermodal freight transport: EU still far from getting freight off the road", and the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on Union guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network.
