Red Sea: attacks against international shipping

The European Shippers Council calls for an end to violence, namely in the Red Sea where Houthi militants have attacked and hijacked international crews and vessels. Such attacks have serious negative repercussions on global supply chains, sustainability and international trade, adding tension to the already existing inflationary pressures felt by shippers and consumers. The European Shippers Council calls on the European Union and Allies around the world to take necessary and measured steps to end maritime terrorism and restore international maritime law. Crews, cargo, and ships must be protected at all times. They should never be used as collateral to international conflicts.

ESC is in continuous contact with European and international organisations calling for concrete and swift measures to secure global supply chains and shield shippers from rampant increases in shipping costs.
