The FuelEU Maritime Regulation aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the shipping sector by increasing the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels.
The Regulation requires that ‘verifiers’ approved by Member States ensure compliance including through the assessment of the monitoring plan, the verification of the FuelEU report, the issuance of the FuelEU document of compliance, etc.
This initiative sets out details on the methods & criteria to be used for the accreditation of these verifiers.
The European Commission has opened a feedback period: 27 March 2024 – 24 April 2024.
