On 13 February 2025, Łódź hosted a key transport sector event organised by Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, titled “A New Era of European Transport – Challenges of TEN-T Policy.”
The opening speech at the conference was delivered by Dariusz Klimczak, Minister of Infrastructure. The conference gathered around 400 participants, including EU transport ministers, high-level representatives of EU institutions such as the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as representatives of international organisations, policymakers, and transport sector experts. Discussions focused on the future of transport in Europe and the challenges related to the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
Implementing the TEN-T network requires stable funding
Participants of the event highlighted the importance of the TEN-T policy in improving the efficiency of European transport while also emphasising the need to enhance its competitiveness, accessibility, cohesion, and resilience.
Transport policymakers and industry experts also drew attention to the challenges associated with achieving the goals set for the renewed TEN-T network, stressing the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to climate objectives while ensuring adequate and stable funding for EU transport policy in the 2028–2034 financial framework. “Building the TEN-T network is a challenge that requires securing appropriate financial resources,” Minister Klimczak emphasised.
