What shippers get with NexTrust

Several cases of collaboration in supply chain have been presented at the final NexTrust project event in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, on 25 October 2018. The project tested innovative business models to unlock more efficiency and sustainability in the supply chain.

To reduce deliveries, congestion, and greenhouse gas emissions on the one side, and to increase load factors and eliminate barriers to collaboration on the other side, the 42-month EU-funded project – NexTrust – developed trusted networks with horizontal and vertical collaboration between shippers, industry sectors, and last mile (e-commerce) operators in the European logistics market. The innovative business models envisage the introduction of a neutral trustee (for horizontal and vertical cooperation) who ensures that the contract between the parties is respected and the collaboration brings benefits to both (or more) sides. The project pilots tested and verified these business models in real market conditions.
