From Maritime into Multimodal year

25th January 2018, European Shippers’ Council participated in the European Commission’s cocktail event to celebrate the achievements of the maritime year and move towards multimodal focus. The participants actively discussed the challenges of the maritime transport sector and the need to explore synergies with the other transport modes. They also had a chance to participate in a multiple-choice poll. According to the poll results, the most important achievement of maritime year 2017 was modernisation of the EU regulatory framework for maritime transport. For the year of multimodality 2018, according to the answers, the focus should be on multimodal, integrated, and interoperable data for all transport modes.

ESC is committed to contribute further to the EC ongoing and future initiatives on maritime and multimodality to make the EU transport sector more competitive, efficient, safe, and environmentally sustainable.
