Join European project on transport

Innovation in transport is essential for the European Commission and one of the ways to stimulate this innovation is to launch calls for project proposals. ESC is calling for shippers to join the project proposal on “Integrated multimodal, low emission freight transport systems and logistics.” The intention is to build the proposal based on the real industry needs and this is where shippers’ participation is of the utmost importance. Collaborating with the partners in the proposal, you will look at the innovative solutions to fit perfectly with your company’s strategy and to bring economic benefits for your business.

The call for proposals is launched by the European Commission and will be funded 100 percent, including the salary for the time spent on the project’s activities and any investments in software or hardware.

The proposal’s vision is to expand global trade flows that promote circular economy. We foresee to use the merge of Physical Internet and Internet of Things (IoT) concepts that exploit advances in intelligent connected vehicles, as well as collaborative logistics models such as ‘crowd shipping’ and mutualised temporary storage. This is underpinned by the collaborative intelligence spaces that exploit blockchain for supply chain governance and expedient and legally compliant smart contracts.

As the call for proposals requires a research and innovation action (RIA), we will focus on activities establishing new knowledge and/or will explore the feasibility of a new or improved technology, product, process, service, or solution. The proposal may include basic and applied research, technology development and integration, testing and validation on a small-scale prototype in a laboratory or simulated environment. This type of proposals usually also contain a demonstration or pilot activities to show technical feasibility in a near-to-operational environment.
