The USER Conference, taking place on September 9 at Romexpo as part of TransLogistica Romania 2026, will welcome Godfried Smit, Secretary General of the European Shippers’ Council (ESC), as a special guest.
Godfried Smit’s participation marks an important step in the growing collaboration between the Romanian Freight Forwarders Association (USER) and the European Shippers’ Council, bringing together two essential perspectives within the logistics chain: shippers — manufacturers, importers, and exporters — and transport and logistics service providers.
During the conference, Godfried will contribute to two USER panels alongside representatives from the shipping, freight forwarding, transport, logistics, customs, technology, and public sectors. Discussions will focus on some of the key challenges currently reshaping European supply chains, including digitalisation, sustainability, customs reform, cargo security, identity fraud, and the future relationship between shippers and logistics providers.
One of the discussions in which Godfried Smit will participate is Panel 3, organised by USER under the theme “Secure supply chains require trusted partnerships.” The panel will explore cargo security, identity fraud, due diligence, secure truck parking, the role of insurers and digital platforms, and the importance of information sharing and cross-border cooperation.
Godfried’s contribution will bring the perspective of European shippers to a conversation that is increasingly important for the entire logistics sector. His presence in Bucharest reinforces the value of direct dialogue between those who generate freight flows and those responsible for organising and delivering their transport.
